In NIVI, you can find all categories related to transportation and distribution in one section, devided by Upstream and Downstream. This represents two categories in the Green House Gas Protocol: Category 4 Upstream Transportation and Distribution and Category 9 Downstream Transportation and Distribution. For definitions and the differentiation of both categories, please look at the category descriptions.
What is included
All transportation, distribution and warehouse activities from your direct supplier up until the final place at the end customer are included if the facilities or vehicles are not owned or controlled by your company.
What is not included
Transportation and warehouse operations in facilities or vehicles that are owned or controlled by your company are not included.
